Fall in NYC & Miami

Fall always feels like a season of transition. In New York, the city shifts from rooftop cocktails to cozy evenings, while Miami welcomes its own version of fall with art, food, and al fresco experiences without the chill. Spending time in both cities, I’ve curated a guide to the best of what fall offers, whether you’re looking for family-friendly outings or refined ways to spend an evening.

New York City: For family

Central Park in Full Color: Skip the tourist crowds and head to the north end of Central Park. The Conservatory Garden and Harlem Meer offer the same fall foliage magic but with a quieter, local feel.

Pumpkin Point on Governors Island (Late October): A chic take on a pumpkin patch with skyline views. Perfect for kids, but also fun to pair with a ferry ride and picnic.

The Met’s Family Sundays: Culture and creativity come together with family programs designed to engage kids while giving adults an excuse to wander the galleries.

New York City: For Adults

Carnegie Hall’s Fall Season: Nothing feels more quintessentially autumn in NYC than a night of music here.

Wine & Dine in the West Village: Cozy into intimate spots like Saint Theo’s or I Sodi, where fall menus lean into truffle pastas and rich reds.

The Whitney Biennial: Always a cultural talking point, this is an elevated way to spend a weekend afternoon before heading to drinks at Sant Ambroeus across the street.

Miami: for family

Vizcaya Gardens: Stroll through the grounds without the peak-summer heat. It’s as engaging for kids as it is stunning for adults.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s Fall Programs: Their seasonal events often feature kid-friendly activities, from garden walks to butterfly exhibits.

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM): A beautiful balance of art and space where children can explore outdoors while adults enjoy the exhibitions.

Miami: for adults

Art Basel Preview Season: While Basel officially lands in December, fall brings a wave of gallery openings and events.

Dine Al Fresco at Mandolin Aegean Bistro: A timeless favorite that feels even more special on breezy Miami fall nights.

Cocktails at The Surf Club: Refined, understated, and always elegant, the perfect place for an evening out.

Whether your fall involves cooler temperatures in New York or embracing Miami’s endless warmth, both cities offer experiences that feel elevated, stylish, and memorable. For me, fall is about balance: family time and indulgence, culture and leisure.
